The beautiful rural setting is what made us fall in love with this home. Our renovation project started with minimal amount of demo, a completely new bathroom with double bowl sinks, some custom tile work and refinishing the floors. Elbow grease was all the kitchen needed to complete the renovation. Our wish for this house was a family to enjoy the beautiful fenced-in backyard with a pool and it came true in less than a week on the market.

Mid-Century Modern homes are my weakness. The vision of holidays gatherings in the paneled dining room and sunken living room reminded me of episodes of Mad Men. The project took us 7 months to complete because we contracted what I call the “may as well” syndrome. We started ripping out the kitchen cabinets and then thought we “may as well” pull up the floors. And so it goes until just about everything was new. Our favorite part of this home is the sunken living room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a mature landscaped backyard.

Ranches will always be a hot item because single floor living is so desirable. This home needed a complete clean-out. The owner who was long gone had just left everything there to sit for 5 years. Assessing the home was impossible because of the clutter. So we took a chance and dove in. Unfortunately we had to replace two bathrooms, a kitchen, all the flooring, some sheetrock, roof, electrical and more. Fortunately for the buyer, they were moving into a completely remodeled gem that sits on a large lot in a great development.

Growing up in a small town, I developed lifelong relationships. When an neighbor called for help, we were there to take on the task. We purchased the house from an old friend who invited me into her kitchen as a young girl and taught me dozens of family Italian recipes. She was worried about the timing and logistics of selling her home and moving into an apartment when it became available. We proposed to buy it from her. She could stay there as long as she wanted after she sold, and when it was time to move, all she had to take with her was her clothes. We would take care of everything else. Electrical was the largest chunk of this transition. The wiring was so old parts of the home were unsafe. Clean out and painting were the fun part. The original hardwood floors and 9 foot ceiling sold the buyer instantly.
